GIVING

Every year since 2017, I have donated increasing percentages of my net income.

I started off with 2% which then felt difficult but achievable, increasing by one percentage point each year.

In 2023 I donated 8% of my net income, the 2024 target is 9%.

In 2025 I'll take the Giving What We Can pledge of donating 10% of my net income every year for life.

CAUSES

I donate to causes that feel meaningful, either because they affected me or mine directly that year, or because they are known to be the most efficient ways to donate money and have an impact.

My top charities include:

THE 1%

It's likely, that like me, you're in the 1% of the richest in the world, and even if you donated 10% of your income, you'd still be in the 1%.

PLEDGING A %

I found that having a clear target kept me motivated. I started at 2% of net income, which was stretching but achievable. Increasing percentages every year helped desensitise me from big donations.
